Okay, LISA is going to the movies.
The BLACKPINK star’s new documentary Always Lalisa will open in IMAX and cinemas worldwide from October 12, 2026, before streaming exclusively on YouTube Premium later this year.
Directed by Sue Kim, the film follows a year in LISA’s life when she stepped away from BLACKPINK’s usual group schedule and tried to work out what a full solo chapter could actually look like.
And she did not exactly spend that year quietly.
The documentary covers the pressure around launching her solo career, moving into acting and building LLOUD while still trying to keep some part of her life away from the spotlight. The interesting bit is that there was always a deadline sitting underneath it all: she knew she would eventually return to BLACKPINK.
So this is not really a film about leaving the group. It is about what LISA did with the window she had.
Spoiler: quite a lot.
She released her debut album Alter Ego, made her acting debut in The White Lotus and performed solo at Coachella. Sony Music Vision also says the film captures her building out her solo identity while the clock was ticking toward BLACKPINK getting back together.
The timing of the cinema release is pretty wild too. Always Lalisa opens October 12, then her new EP PRESS PLAY arrives October 23. In November, she is due to play four VIVA LA LISA shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, a run Sony says sold out in under 10 minutes.

Before the worldwide cinema release, Always Lalisa will make its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.
Tickets go on sale September 9, with participating cinemas and screening details being released through the film’s official site.
If your nearest cinema misses out, you are not completely doomed. The documentary will stream globally and exclusively on YouTube Premium later in 2026, although an exact streaming date has not been announced yet.
We already know what LISA achieved during that year. The part I want to see is everything in between: what it looked like while she was figuring out just how big a solo LISA era could become.
