Ariana Grande Hints Ricky Alvarez Could Be Her Last

Ariana Grande may have just given fans her clearest hint yet that she sees Ricky Alvarez as more than a summer reunion.

During the final show of her Eternal Sunshine tour at London’s O2 Arena, Grande changed the Ricky Alvarez line in “thank u, next” from the original lyric to: “I’m tryna make him my last.”

That was enough to send engagement and marriage speculation flying almost immediately.

Ariana Grande changed the Ricky lyric again

The lyric change came during the final night of Grande’s 41-show tour, which wrapped in London on September 1. It was not the first time she had rewritten the Ricky line during this tour.

Earlier shows included variations such as “I know he’s still got my back” and “We always find our way back,” as Grande and Alvarez’s rekindled relationship became increasingly public over the northern summer.

People and ELLE reported that Grande and Alvarez, who first dated in 2015 and 2016, got back together this year after years of remaining friends. Grande made the relationship Instagram official in August.

So, are Ariana Grande and Ricky Alvarez engaged?

Not based on anything publicly confirmed.

Grande did not announce an engagement onstage, and there has been no official confirmation that she and Alvarez are engaged. The lyric does, however, very obviously point toward her wanting the relationship to last.

And because this happened during the final performance of the entire tour, it landed with a little more weight than a random lyric switch halfway through the run.

Grande also shared a tour wrap-up montage this week that included a kiss with Alvarez behind the scenes, adding another very public moment to a relationship that only became official again recently.

So no, we do not have a ring announcement.

But changing “now I listen and laugh” into “I’m tryna make him my last” at your final concert?

Yeah. People were always going to notice that one.
